For appointment to
this grade, a candidate must have:
i.
Served in the
grade of Chief Superintending Engineer (Agriculture) for minimum period of
three (3) years;
ii.
Master’s Degree
in the following field in Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural and Biosystems
Engineering, Environmental and Biosystems Engineering, Engineering in
Agri-Chain Management, Agro-bio–Resource Science and Technology, Agricultural
Processing, Engineering, Soil and Water Engineering, Land and Water Management,
Environmental Engineering and Management, Project Planning and management or
any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
iii.
Registered by the
Engineers Registration Board of Kenya and;
iv.
Attended a
management course lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized
institution;
v.
Certificate in
computer from a recognized institution: and
vi.
Demonstrated
administrative ability, professional and technical competence in the field of
agricultural engineering.
Duties
and Responsibilities;
An officer at
this level will be the overall coordinator of the Agricultural Engineering
programmes. Specific duties will include;
i.
Implementation of
policies in agricultural engineering with regard to mechanization, post-harvest
technology, crop production and protection, environmental and waste management,
land and water resources conservation and development, implementation of
specific programmes and projects; and
ii.
Coordinate the
implementation of research programs in liaison with other relevant institutions
and research bodies.
